Artist Statement

My paintings are recollected expressions of the natural landscape that surrounds my home and studio. From recollected memories, images of fields, forests and water slowly evolve onto the surface of the canvas or wood panel, often over many layers of paint that are scraped and scratched with a palette knife, revealing the colors beneath. Rather than copying details, I am more interested in portraying  the landscape in a personal way revealing the communication I find in nature.
